As a realist artist with a classically trained background, I started drawing and painting at a very young age. My work was the favorite of many teachers, which led to a scholarship at the famed Art Students’ League in Manhattan. After a short time, while I concentrated on marriage and family, art took a backseat. Ten years later I went back to college to get my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at SUNY Purchase, New York. Working in the graphic industry, I became an illustrator and graphic designer for newspapers and magazines. The pull of fine art encouraged me to start a freelance graphic business so I could attend a two year program at Paier College of Art, specializing in classical portraits and figurative painting.
Having studied with many internationally known artists over the past years, such as Daniel Green, Rose Frantzen and David Jon Kassan, I have experienced their passion and was infused by it. Studying at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, a memorable experience, which both brought me closer to my goals and more aware of my Italian heritage.
My love of oil painting, shows in my work, which is representational paintings, of the human experience, in their environments. Alone or in groups, these subjects, excite me to the many possibilities of color, and texture, of the oil painting medium. Currently I’m working in a series of paintings with some mixed media, such as gold and silver leaf, as well as cold wax medium to enhance the textures.
My work has been in several exhibits and juried shows in New York, Connecticut, Florida and Arizona. I have won many awards and ribbons. My work is in many private collections.
